Pello Bilbao put on a blistering show yesterday to win the Lehendakari Txapelketa race in Merkina by a whopping two minutes. The young climber from Gernika took off quite early in the race, but despite a strong Seguros Bilbao outfit doing their utmost to catch him, he was never to be seen again and went on to claim a big scalp. Ramón Domene of Seguros Bilbao now leads this particular competition overall after finishing the race in fifth place.
Seems to be a new skinny climber. Hope he will continue to grow in future.
