Egoi remains in gold
Egoi successfully defended his overall lead in the Vuelta stage 10 today. The team took control of affairs early on and chased down all dangerous breakaways. Matej Jurco of Milram was eventually given lee-way and spent the day alone up front. Euskaltel were in the latter stages aided by Rabobank, and the jersey was never in danger. It came down to the anticipated sprint finish, in which Koldo placed 6th. It was a chaotic sprint, with Hinault winning, but Koldo wasn't that far off. Tomorrow will likely give Koldo another shot at winning a stage, as stage 11 is mostly flat. Euskaltel will try to keep hold of the jersey up until the rest day on Friday. Egoi will have a rough time keeping it on the Angliru on Saturday, but if he's still in gold come the rest day, we'll all be pleased.
