Lejarreta wins on the road
Orbea's top mountain biker Iñaki Lejarreta showed his impressive versatility by taking a victory on the road today. The 28-year-old triumphed in the Torneo Euskaldun-race in Lazkao, Gipuzkoa.
The Olympic Games hopeful cleverly outfoxed Azysa-Telco'm duo Sivori and Terpstra to snatch an unlikely victory after the trio had escaped early on and distanced the peloton by some margin. Another Azysa rider, Borja Abásolo, displayed his rich vein of form with fourth at 1:58. The 23-year-old, formerly of Cafés Baqué, finished a striking third in the Memorial Valenciaga a few weeks back and proved to be the strongest of the rest. Bidelan pair Mitxelena and Murgia finished fifth and sixth respectively.
Naturgas Energía did not field a team.
