Euskaltel's team for the Tour this year will not include a lot of surprises. Samu will of course lead the team, and alongside him he'll have the trusted Egoi, Amets, Gorka and Rubén, as well as four out of JJ, Iñaki, Alán, Iván and Aitor Hernández. Romain and Koldo are actually both listed as reserves, but it's highly unlikely they'll head to Rotterdam. So, what do you think of the team?
Obviously a team put together to support Samuel, who'll try to get a top 5 overall and win a stage. I think it's a good idea not to throw in Sicard in his first year as a pro, let him mature in week long stage races, and perhaps the Vuelta. I also like that Anton will get his own chance in the Vuelta instead of riding for Samu in the Tour, although he could have been very useful to have in the big mountains, where they lack a little strength...
ReplyDeleteSicard won't do a Grand Tour this year he said. I think Sicard is only listed as reserve to please the Tour organisation.
ReplyDeleteGood team, though I would've liked to see Intxausti riding as well.
I agree, Intxausti would've added some strength to the team in the mountains. Ant the Tour will definitely be decided in the mountains this year!
ReplyDeleteMe too, Intxausti might be missed by Samu in the mountains...
