Txurruka on the mend

Amets Txurruka is hoping his health woes are behind him as he readies himself to embark on the Vuelta a Asturias tomorrow. The 29-year-old revealed he's been suffering from bronchitis of late - only ten days before the Giro d'Italia.

"I'm not feeling as good as I should have, as I've been sick with bronchitis", the affable climber intimated to www.lne.es on the eve of Asturias. "If I'm feeling good, I'll give it a go in the race, but it'll be tough to return to competition. There's a limit for how bad it can go, though, as I've been training really well".

Seemingly born to climb mountains, Txurruka is naturally looking forward to a Vuelta a Asturias rich on climbs. He highlights one of his team-mates though as the team's go-to guy.

"Jon Izagirre is riding at a very high lever now. The team is mainly made up of youngsters, interspersed with speedy veterans like Pablo Urtasun. The parcours is really great, like it always is in this race. It's very hilly; constantly up and down. And there's the Naranco climb, which is very interesting. Because of the many mountains, I've always liked this particular race".

Team: Amets Txurruka, Pierre Cazaux, Victor Cabedo, Adrián Sáez, Jon Izagirre, Pablo Urtasun, Miguel Minguez and Peio Bilbao.

Lets hope he gets his form back, looking forward to seeing him float up the hills in the Giro...and the team will need his experience.
