Just in: Samu wins País Vasco overall
Samu has just won both the final time trial and the overall of the Vuelta al País Vasco.
The Euskaltel leader proved the strongest over the hilly 18,9km ITT in Oñati, taking the win six seconds ahead of Bauke Mollema and putting more than enough time into Joaquím Rodríguez to take home the big prize. It's the first win for Euskaltel in their home race since Ibán Mayo won in 2003.
Stage results:
- 1, Samuel Sánchez, 28:48
- 53, Gorka Verdugo, 1:55

- 69, Egoi Martínez, 2:26
- 71, Jorge Azanza, 2:27
- 84, Juan José Oroz, 2:56
DNS: Igor Antón and Gorka Izagirre
Final general classification:

Chapeau Samu!!
Yes!!
Great news!
I've seen it all days on live stream and he was really incredible! The team itself was pretty weak but if you're s strong you don't even need a team. A great win for a great champion! Will he ride Luik Bastenaken Luik and Waalse Pijl? With some dope guys suspended, Gilbert and Schleck not in good shape, I dare to say he's one of the real favorites in this races. Besides the victory here are a lot of WT points to Euskaltel. That's finally good news, after the sad article I read on the blog about the uncertain team future.
Great win!
Fuji was nowhere this week, what's going on with him? I'm used to him being inconsistent, but he hasn't shown any form at all this year.
Anyway, let's worry about that later and now enjoy this beautiful victory :)
