Nieve set to start campaign

Tour de France-bound Mikel Nieve will kick-start his 2013 season at the Tour Méditerranéen tomorrow, Euskaltel's website reports.

The team revealed the native of Leitza, Navarra, will toe the line alongside the following seven riders:

• Azanza, Jorge
• Bravo, Garikoitz
• Izagirre, Ion
• Lobato, Juan José
• Pérez, Rubén
• Sicard, Romain
• Urtasun, Pablo

As such it will also mark the season start for Jorge Azanza, while the others have already competed this season. Álvaro González de Galdeano will direct the riders from the car.

The French stage-race will run from Wednesday, February 6, to Sunday, February 10.
