Mínguez makes a race of it in Poland

Miguel Mínguez made sure Euskaltel was once again in the thick of the action in the Tour of Poland on Wednesday.

The handy allrounder got himself into the day's main escape along with seven others on the long and mainly flat road from Tarnów to Katowice. While the move was never likely to come off, at least the jersey and its sponsors were visible in a time when all visibility is welcomed with open arms. Eventually it was another escapee, Taylor Phinney, who took the spoils, escaping from the clutches of the pack with seven clicks to go and holding them off Cancellara-style.

Results:
  • (1, Taylor Phinney (BMC), 5:40:17)
  • 35, Ion Izagirre, s.t.
  • 59, Ricardo Mestre, s.t.
  • 60, Adrián Sáez, s.t.
  • 90, Garikoitz Bravo, s.t.
  • 97, Robert Vrecer, .s.t.
  • 131, Miguel Mínguez, 6:24
