Jon Bru

Jon Bru Pascal joins Euskaltel from the now defunct Professional Continental team Kaiku. The 29-year-old has two victories on his palmarès, and will be a major asset to Euskaltel facing the 2007 season. Bru is a specialist in the one-day classics, like Fleche, Liège, Zurich and San Sebastian. Bru started out as a stagiaire with L.A. Pecol in 2001, and after impressive riding, especially winning the 2003 points competition in the Tour de Pologne, switched to Kaiku. Here he`s won two races, the second and the fourth stage in the Volta ao Santarem, as well as the points competition and the mountains classifications in the same race; all coming in 2006. Though, his most impressive results last year were the second places achieved in GP de Fourmies and the Clasica a los Puertos. In 2005 he also got some very good placings, mainly his fifth place in Clasica San Sebastian, sixth in Paris-Brussels, the mountains competition in the Hessen Rundfahrt and second in the Subida al Naranco. There`s no doubt Euskaltel have got a classy and stylish rider on their hands.

Looking forward to next season, Bru will ride all the biggest classics, especially targeting Milano-San Remo and the three Ardennes classics. He`s also one of 13 riders who will start the season on a strong note, aiming to peak quite early. He`ll also probably ride the Giro next year. Hope so, as he`s a tremendous rider.
