Urtasun makes the break on stage 13
Pablo Urtasun proved there's more than just one Euskaltel rider left in the race by animating today's 13th stage from Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux to Cap d'Agde.
Urtasun went clear immediately after the start, getting Dumoulin, Ladagnous, Mörköv, Curvers, Engoulvent and Bouet for company pretty quickly. It was never likely to work out though, as the sprinters still left in the race had all singled out this day as an opportunity that couldn't be missed. They were duly reeled in, but at least Urtasun grabbed some of the limelight for the team after several days with Egoi Martínez in the thick of the action.
Stage 13 results:
- (1, André Greipel (Lotto-Belisol), 4:47:59)
- 27, Egoi Martínez, s.t.
- 66, Rubén Pérez, 8:36
- 113, Pablo Urtasun, 12:31
- 156, Jorge Azanza, 14:04
- 157, Gorka Izagirre, s.t.

Yeah poor guys they keep on trying, but only Martinez has its normal level. However we can't be mad at the team as they were victim of fatal crashes, allthough ruben perez is not the ruben perez of last year's tour, Izagirre dissappoints me and Azanza was not the right choice for the TDF. Or maybe the moral is gone after such a tragedy, I wouldn't blame them.
I love how Urtasun asked his breakaway mates if it was okay that he took the sprint prize. Classy move
just hope they put the best team together for the vuelta now! They can get some serious points.
@ Nick : Yes, was a nice move from Urtasun. I also remember him shaking hands with Morkov earlier this race, seems a very nice guy. He's really the kind of rider you would hope he gets a big win some day.
