Euskaltel to keep riding Orbeas

Euskaltel have renewed their partnership agreement with Basque bike manufacturer Orbea for another three years, according to a press release.

Euskaltel have been riding Orbeas ever since the team's inception back in 1994, and that will continue to be case until 2015 at least. The riders will also keep on donning the Mallabia-based company's helmets, as they've been doing since January 2011.

The press release is quite frankly too boring and too formal to be worth the time it takes to translate the whole thing, but if you want to read it in Spanish you can do so here.

What's more interesting though is the new TT steed the riders in orange will ride in the future. The new-look Ordu was launched today, and it certainly, as ever I have to say, looks the part. Check it out here.

Anyone know why they stopped wearing Etxeondo a few years back? Keep it local Euskaltel.

I've actually been trying to figure that out, Josh, but without much luck. They aborted the collaboration before the deal was up, and were thus forced to pay some compensation to Etxe Ondo. Seems a weird decision to me when all we hear all the time is Madariaga an co. complaining about lack of money...

Nice looking bikes, pity that no one currently in Orange will do them justice!

Did Etxe Ondo have distribution problems? Certainly hard to get hold of in the UK. Maybe sponsors etc wanted a kit that the fans could actually buy?

Orbea don't have a big presence in the UK (the company I bought mine from don't stock them anymore)so the pose value is pretty high ;-)and I only know of one small retailer that will order in helmets.

Sort of reflects the niche position of the team really...

To add to that, I'm really glad I loaded up on a couple summer and winter Etxeondo outfits while over there. Great quality, and the envy of everyone! If you ever get your hands on some...

But it's strange, something I've always wondered. They clothed ONCE/EROSKI for a number of years then EE for what, a decade at least? Now it's MOA, right?

It could be worse. They could be like Caja Rural and go the route of dumping the home-ish bicycle manufacturer (BH) for those awful ViVelo bikes. I never like it when a regional team doesn't use regional stuff.

Fantastic blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
I'm hoping to start my own site soon but I'm a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like Wordpress or
go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I'm completely confused .. Any suggestions? Bless you!
