UCI WorldTour-rankings

Euskaltel collected their very first WorldTour-points of the year this weekend courtesy of Samuel Sánchez's stage win and overall podium in the Volta a Catalunya.

Samu's strong ride brought him straight up to a lofty 10th in the individual rankings. He's currently on 88 points, while leader Gerrans is on 210.

As a team, Euskaltel is placed 12th. At the time being, the team is ahead of big-hitters like Lampre, BMC, Saxo Bank and Rabobank to name but a few.

Anton and the others will get results, but we can't just expect them to be a dominant team. The beauty of cycling is also about smaller teams doing well at different times...look at EE results inthe GTs last year. These wins are far more important than some small stage race. EE just ha to be selective in what they target as they don't had the cattle to get results every week.
